LiDAR Review for the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project (SNAMP)
نویسنده
چکیده
Background Although the use and popularity of LiDAR (light detection and ranging) is currently on a remarkable rise in the scientific, commercial and government communities, the concept has been developed and used for nearly a century. Advancements in laser and sensor technologies as well as increased availability of computing power and access to the storage required to analyze such data have contributed to increased use of laser data in remote sensing.

Sinfonevada: Dataset of Floristic diversity in Sierra Nevada forests (SE Spain)
The Sinfonevada database is a forest inventory that contains information on the forest ecosystem in the Sierra Nevada mountains (SE Spain). The Sinfonevada dataset contains more than 7,500 occurrence records belonging to 270 taxa (24 of these threatened) from floristic inventories of the Sinfonevada Forest inventory. Expert field workers collected the information. The whole dataset underwent a ...
متن کاملThe Future of Biodiversity in the Sierra Nevada through the Lake Tahoe Basin Looking Glass 1
The Sierra Nevada’s biological distinction and diversity are almost as legendary as its spectacular peaks and beautiful granite landscapes. The Sierra Nevada is recognized as a zoogeographic region on the basis of the coincidence of species ranges (for example, Udvardy 1969, 1975; Welsh 1994). Udvardy (1969) defined the Sierra Nevada bioregion as bounded by the Great Basin to the north and east...
متن کاملHome Range and Habitat Selection of Spotted Owls in the Central Sierra Nevada
We studied home range and habitat selection of radio-marked adult California spotted owls (Strix occidentalis occidentalis) randomly selected from among the breeding population of owls in the central Sierra Nevada, California from June to October 2006. The most parsimonious home-range estimate for our data was 555 ha (SE 1⁄4 100 ha). Home-range size was positively correlated with the number of ...
متن کاملBiosphere and Atmosphere Interactions in Sierra Nevada Forests
In the Sierra Nevada, studies are being conducted to assess the impacts of both anthropogenic and biogenic hydrocarbon emissions on regional tropospheric ozone and fine aerosol production. Impacts of ozone deposition and management practices on ecosystem health are also being studied. Human-induced changes in regional air quality have consequences for Sierra Nevada ecosystems and human health. ...
